Meet the Team

  • Nellwyn Lampert

Nellwyn Lampert is a freelance writer and editor and is the author of Every Boy I Ever Kissed: A Memoir (Dundurn Press). She began her career with a degree in playwriting and now holds an MFA in Creative Nonfiction from the University of King’s College, where she currently teaches writing in the continuing education department. In addition to her work as an editor and writing coach, Nellwyn has also edited or written for She Does the City, The Huffington Post, Macat, and the Puritan Literary Magazine, among others. She is currently working on a novel and a second memoir.

Originally a small-town girl, Nellwyn now lives in Toronto with her husband and two cats, who were both named after little-known but important female writers (Aphra Behn and Kay Redfield Jamison). Her current literary obsessions are Amor Towles, Kazuo Ishiguro, and Ann Pachett. When she’s not reading, writing, or drinking Earl Grey, Nellwyn can probably be found making something… a skirt, a scarf, or a loaf of bread.

  • Christian Smith

Christian Smith holds a doctorate in the molecular and cellular biology of cancer from the University of Toronto, has over two decades of experience as a research scientist, and since 2006, has been the Manager of Research Operations at the world-renowned Brain Tumour Research Centre in Toronto. Compelled by an insatiable drive to learn new things and challenge himself, Christian returned to graduate studies and completed an MFA in Creative Nonfiction from the University of King's College in 2017. With luck and an incredible writing community at his back, Christian published his debut nonfiction book, The Scientist and the Psychic: A Son’s Exploration of His Mother’s Gift, with Penguin Random House Canada in December 2020.

Writing his first book ignited a fire. Christian is currently working on his first novel, a paranormal thriller about a psychic who agrees to help a friend claiming her brother has been wrongly accused of murdering an indigenous girl. At the same time, Christian is exploring new creative outlets by writing his first screenplay, dramatizing events from The Scientist and the Psychic. And, the fun doesn’t stop there. Christian is percolating ideas for two additional novels! In any slivers of spare time, Christian enjoys reading, playing computer games, and is a dedicated helicopter parent to his cat, Puffin, and Italian Greyhound, Madeline. In December 2021, Christian moved from his cramped condo, bought a detached 3-bedroom home north of Toronto, and finally realized his lifelong dream of having his own library.

She’s working on two books about women in the music industry, one fiction and one nonfiction, though the stories in both are so crazy they just might be real.
